Nancy Garza Ramos, age 71, of Burien, Washington, passed into our Lord’s hands September 9, 2014 at Highline Hospital in Burien. She was born in Los Ramones, N. L., Mexico on January 13, 1943 to parents Tomas and Felipa Garza. As a child, she attended school in Texas; later she went back to school in Mexico and attended Instituto Biblico de Cannan in San Benito to become an ordained minister. She was married to Rogelio Ramos on December 15, 1958, in Mexico. She had various careers before becoming a minister, including floor supervisor at a potato processing plant in Othello. She was most proud of working at Dr. Dorow’s Dental office as a dental hygienist. She was a Sunday school teacher. She was fluent in English and Spanish, which helped her become a leader in her community. She was involved with youth group Missonettes. She was a Deacon at the Bethel Assembly of God Church, a church she was active in founding here in Othello. She was the president of the women’s church ministry. She was active with the Latin senior center, a senior advocate, and a 4H leader. She was involved in the Adams county extension program. She was there for whomever needed her.
She was a strong woman who earned the respect of those around her. Her loss will be deeply felt.
She is survived by her husband Rogelio Ramos and children, Virginia (Ruben Salazar) Ramos de Salazar of Seatac, Washington; Minnie (Steve +) Castro of Othello, Washington; Brenda Lee (Guy) Ramos/Kenney of Othello, Washington and Roy (Marni) Ramos Jr. of Renton, Washington. Her siblings, Angelica (Ubaldo +) Martinez of Othello, Washington; Roque Garza of Boston, Massachusetts and Diana (Frank) Martinez of Moses Lake, Washington. Her grandchildren Brianne (Craig) Ball of Auburn, Washington; Dillon (Jackie) Salazar of Seatac, Washington; Maria Castro of Othello, Washington; Rita (Tony) Copeland of Moses Lake, Washington; Abigail (Pablo) Macouzet of Kennewick, Washington; Thomas Medley of Lexington, Kentucky; Jena Medley of Lexington, Kentucky; Roy Ramos III of Renton, Washington and Alex Ramos of Renton, Washington. Nancy also leaves numerous great grandchildren to cherish her loving memory.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Tomas and Felipa Garza, her father and mother in law Facundo and Isabel Ramos, her son Steve Castro, her brother in law Ubaldo Martinez, her sister in law Irma Villareal, her grandson Nathan Salazar, her nephew Benjamin Martinez, her great nephew Matthew Garza, her aunt and surrogate mother Josefa Rodriguez and her lifelong best friend Hilda Valdovinos.
A visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., September 13, 2014, at the Bethel Spanish Assembly of God Church. Funeral arrangements were held at 10:00 a.m., September 15, 2014, at the Bethel Spanish Assembly of God Church.
