Eulogy for Dad

First of all, on behalf of all of my family, I would like to thank everyone for coming today to show us your support and share in saying good bye to one of the most wonderful men in the world.
I wanted to speak to all of you today to honour my dady, but I was also worried that I may not be able to get through this, so please bare with me, just in case I come across too quickly or slowly.
When I said I wanted toe speak to all to you today, one of my friends said to me, 'What do you say when one of your heroes dies?" This statement made me think, "Yes, that's it! Yes, my dad was my hero!
Now please don't get me wrong, dad was not totally innocent, as soem of you may know. There were always lots of stories or escapades that were shared with all of us from times in his youth that were a little more questionaable but always entertaining.
In a time like this, I can sit back and listen to many of you talk about your memories and I realize that dad had a very full and sometimes eventful life. And no matter what I can determine, dad was a fighter, he was always there when you needed him. You may also know that he was a little stubborn, but it was really just that he did like to do things his own way. 
There was no stopping dad, he was always working aroudn the house, just ask hi neighbours. Dad could repeatedly be found hanging off of a  ladder on the side of the hours, know he wasn't supposed to be up there in the first place. Dad liked to tinker with a lot of things but one of his biggested hobbies was fishing, he loved to fish, as I am sure my brother Steve, can attest too.
However, in his later years, this became harder for dad to do, so he changed his focus to something new.
Yes, hsi latest fancy, SHOPPING!
Dad loved to shop, he would find a bargain anywhere, he would spend hours in Walmart looking in the DVD bins for movies or at Canadian Tire looking through all of the tools, even though he owned thousandss of them already. 
Somehow, dad maanged to come up with an excuse every day to go to one of the local grocery stores. If the sale was good, he couldn't buy just one item, he had to buy 10. Mom kept tryign to tell him that they were running out of room in the house, but that didn't stop him.
Yes, he will be greately missed by a number of stores in the Whitby area.
Speaking of my mom, although this may be hard on the rest of us, I am sure after more than 55 years with dad, it has left a void tha cannot be filled. 
"Mom, rest assured that we will all be herer for you, if you need a shoulder to lean on or if you just need a plain big old hug, we will be here!"
I would also like to thank everyone for your support during the alter years of dad's life, although he hated asking anyone for help, he knew that sometimes he needed it.
You will always live in our hearts dad, until someday we may meet again, I love you dad and will miss you dearly!
