September 24, 1962 – December 4, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Adamkovics on December 4, 2024, at the age of 62 in Gilbert, AZ.
Peter was a beloved son, brother, brother-in-law, loyal friend, and talented musician. Raised in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, he earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University. In 1990, Peter moved to the West Coast of Canada and retired from Telus in 2015 after 25 years of dedicated service. After retirement, he split his time between the Vancouver, BC area and Gilbert, AZ.
Peter is survived by his mother, Yvette Adamkovics, younger sister, Deborah Gates and brother-in-law, Derek Gates.
Peter's warmth, kindness, courage, and musical talents touched many lives. He was a loyal friend who cherished lifelong friendships. His love for his family was profound, and after his father's passing in 2017, he lived with his mother, becoming her soulmate and constant companion.
Peter's passion for music was unparalleled. His first love was the guitar, followed by the drums and piano. He had a remarkable gift for music, able to learn songs by ear without needing the sheet music. He felt the magic in every chord and key.
In May 2024, Peter was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He courageously fought the disease, undergoing 12 rounds of successful chemotherapy. Despite his valiant efforts, Peter passed away due to complications from a procedure.
Peter was described by those who met him as a kind soul. He will forever be in our hearts & greatly missed by his family, friends and extended family from Hungary. His legacy of love, music, and friendship will continue to inspire all who knew him.
