Nick Caissie is nothing but the most amazing, kind, and fun-loving man, husband, papa, son, brother, and friend to everyone who knows him. He touched so many lives and will be forever remembered for his big heart, comedic relief, musical talent, and as the provider of the best hugs.
He was born Nicholas Alexander Francois Caissie to Rob and Susan Caissie on June 3, 1987. Nick grew up in Rouge Hill with his brothers Jason and Aaron, and his cousins who lived across the street, Natalie and Rachel. He also spent much of his childhood in the Beaches and Leslieville with his grandparents Ed and Irene Moran, and George and Esther Caissie. He made many memories at gatherings his family would host in their backyard where all were always welcome. Even as a child he was always gentle (his first word), kind, thoughtful, and considerate – all characteristics that would follow him into adulthood.
He developed an early affinity for sports, playing hockey and baseball in the West Hill community. He attended St. Brendan Catholic School and St. Michael’s College. While attending St. Michael's College, his love for music grew through playing the clarinet in the school concert band and eventually self-taught both the bass and acoustic guitar. He extended his affinity for the arts by writing poetry, songs, and short stories.
Nick later attended Brock University where he met and fell in love with his wife Yolanda. At the time, Yolanda was attending Carleton University and it wasn’t long before the two of them couldn’t be apart. Together, they returned to Toronto, finished their studies, and moved into their first apartment at Young and St. Clair, a floor below the very friend who introduced them, Molly.
After moving to the Beaches, they added their sweet puppy Colby to the family. Nick proposed to Yolanda on the beach, and they were soon married in the Distillery District of Toronto on July 28, 2017. They had their first dance to Walter Martin’s “Sing to Me” during a beautiful ceremony surrounded by family and friends.
Nick and Yolanda honeymooned in Santorini and Ireland, moving into their first house in Whitby soon after. Exploring trails, cultivating their home garden, and spending countless hours in “Colby’s Park” out back, they created so many happy memories in their new home.
For those who know Nick, his two passions are sports and music. A diehard Leafs, Jays and Jets fan, he was lucky enough to see the Leafs disappoint last time. He will also forever remain undefeated in fantasy football after winning the 2021 championship. He loves playing the guitar, singing with his puppy and wife, and would often serenade his closest friends with a full performance of “Thunder Road”. A lover of all live-music and genres, attending concerts and listening to live music are one of his favorite things to do. A movie buff, he could recite every detail from memory and would always recommend his favourites to you.
Above all else, he loves good company, great conversation and making people laugh. Nick will be greatly missed by all, but he was adamant that he will always be with everyone. A beautiful man inside and out, Nick will always be here to talk, and of course laugh with us all. The impact he had on everyone was immense and will last forever.
Nick will be greatly missed by a vast number of friends, extended family in New Brunswick and Scotland, and his cousins, Rachel and Bart Biskupska, Natalie Gibbs, Evan and Alexander Vlajkov, Noah, Samantha, Chantelle and Jean-Paul Caissie; Aunts and Uncles, Lisa and Perry Vlajkov, Cathy and Dennis Gibbs, Jean-Guy and Lorraine Caissie, and Paul and Debbie Caissie; mother-in-law Siobain Dix; brothers-in-law John and Michael MacLean; and sisters-in-law Meagan Quinlan and Tina Nikolovski.
