With heavy hearts and profound sadness we announce the passing of Margherita Mastroianni, a woman whose life was a beautiful expression of faith, love and kindness.
Rita passed peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on June 20, 2023 at the age of 80. Beloved wife and life partner of Donato Mastroianni for nearly 65 years. Devoted and loving mother of Lou Mastroianni (Kim), Lucy Foster (Gord), and Robert Mastroianni (Michelle). Predeceased by her beloved son, Narcisio Mastroianni (Janis) and by her parents Loreto and Laura Mattacchione.
Cherished Nonna to her many grandchildren: Sarah (Andrew), Michael (Merissa), Danielle, Deanna, Ariel, Aris, Elisa, Lauren, Samantha, Caprece, Bianca, and predeceased by her beloved grandson, Julian. Adoring Bisnonna to Anthony.
Rita will be greatly missed by her sister Nina Weigel (Bert). Predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Mike Belmonte.
Dear sister-in-law of Nunzio and Anna Mastroianni, Antonio and Vincenza Mastroianni, Giovanni Mastroianni and Frank Mastroianni (predeceased by sister-in-law, Donna).
Rita will be sincerely missed by her many nieces and nephews, numerous other family and friends, both here and in Italy.
Rita’s legacy is one of dedication and love to her family and friends. She demonstrated the value of hard work throughout her life and was most proud of her family and the family business. She worked alongside her best friend and husband Donato at Don & Son Building Supplies for nearly 40 years. Rita enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening, and sharing stories about life in Italy. She loved to watch her children and grandchildren in all their pursuits and treasured family gatherings full of love, laughter and celebration around the dinner table.
We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the incredible Doctors, Nurses and Staff at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for their exceptional and compassionate care.
Visitation will be held at Oshawa Funeral Home, 847 King Street West, Oshawa on Tuesday, June 27th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. & 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Prayers will be held at 7:30 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 1100 Mary Street North, Oshawa on Wednesday, June 28th at 10:30 a.m. followed by Entombment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Whitby.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Association.
