Eleanor Ann McEvoy (Reid) passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side July 12, 2023 at the age of 65. She was the loving wife of Tom McEvoy for 40 years and beloved mother of David McEvoy (Natalie and Lily Rose Aronowicz) and Benjamin and his wife Riley McEvoy. Eleanor is survived by her mother Helen Cathcart and predeceased by her father Harold Reid. Loving sister of Clarence and Kim Reid and Tom and Kathy Reid. She will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and lifelong friends.
Eleanor started her career in healthcare at Belleville General Hospital as a Ward Clerk. After meeting and falling in love with Tom she moved to Hampton and began working at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Here she would make a lasting impact on the labour and delivery unit and make many lifelong friends over her 35 years of service. Eleanor was deeply committed to the Hampton chapter of Scouts Canada for many years. She became a Scout Leader, which lead to so many cherished memories with her sons and other family friends. Eleanor was also a devoted daughter to her mother Helen. She would spend many of her days with her mom, between various trips and outings, enjoying their time in the garden, and attending worship at Eastside Community Baptist Church. Eleanor's pride and joy in life came from the time and experiences she shared with her family. Her love and devotion enriched the lives of those she cared about, and she will be greatly missed.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville 2nd Floor for their exemplary care and compassion.
