In loving memory of Ada Johnston, who passed away Thursday August 17th, 2017 at Orchard Villa Retirement Residence in Pickering at the age of 88. Family was the light of Ada’s life. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur Johnston. Loving mother of Gordon Johnston (Sylvia Parr) of Oshawa and Margaret Johnston of Kitchener. Proud grandmother of Alexandra and Sydney Piatkowski of Kitchener and Julia Parr of Mississauga. Ada is lovingly remembered by her twin sister Alice Anderson (late husband Jack) of Rugby, brother Neil McNiven (Jean) of Coulson, and sister Dorothy Millar (late husband Michael) of Barrie. Predeceased by her parents Everett and Evelyn McNiven. Ada and Art were long term residents of Meaford and Peterborough. Ada cherished her strong ties to her birth place of Oro Township. In her youth, Ada was often found climbing trees with her siblings on their family farm. She was known for her creative touch; specializing in sewing, knitting, quilting and colouring in her later days. Ada was a proud career-woman. She began her career at the Bell and worked in several communities across Ontario, working her way up to the position of chief operator. Ada ended her career after working a number of years in the business office at the Peterborough Civic Hospital. Funeral Service will be held at WILLIS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (3353 10th Line North, Oro-Medonte, ON L0L 1T0) on Monday, August 28th at 1:30 p.m. Interment at Old Knox Presbyterian Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Knox Church Cemetery, Oro, Cairn Presbyterian Church Camp or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
