Shirley was born in Ormond Beach, FL on December 11, 1928 to the late Henry and Jewel Futch. Following her high school graduation, Shirley went on to attend The Florida State University and received her degree in Education in 1950. She had a long and rewarding teaching career, teaching Pre-School to Fourth Grade from the early 1950s to the 1980s. She was recognized for her teaching abilities in ‘Who’s Who in American Teaching’ listed as an Honorable Mention. Shirley also taught Sunday School at her beloved Ormond Beach Union Church, where she was a lifetime member, and a Deacon. Shirley volunteered at the Church’s thrift store, Bargains and Treasures, for many years. She was also a member of the Pilot Club. Shirley donated to many charities, loved football, reading and was fortunate enough to travel the world with Frank her husband and her two sisters.
Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 36 years, Frank H. Meredith. She is survived by her son, Charles Meredith, sisters; Hilda Bennett and Joyce Gettel, her grandchildren; Arian Meredith and Morgan Meredith. She is also survived by her companion and most trusted and dearest friend Jean Canning.
