Ron Rice, thank you for your kindness & always being a great guy. We met at a Hawaiian Tropic contest in Tampa Fl. He invited me to compete in Daytona for the International pageant.  I attended & competed for the next 4 years. He called me  “pretty lady”. I received a Christmas card & suntan lotion for at least 15 years after. He was the best. 🤍 I’ll never forget you. My deepest sympathy to his family.

Ronal J and I spent two weeks traveling to Washington DC to call on my Department Stores and developed the First one page ad for HT through Woodward and Lothrop it was a Full page Ad that for years was posted in the lab we then travel to Boston where we encountered a large Snow Storm after calling on accounts and we could not get out the Highway for three days then to Cap Cod we stopped at a number of Roadside Cooking stands as he liked to eat fried Sea Food for four weeks we drove the coast we collected

A year has passed and Ron is still missed. This photo was of my late husband Joseph Garlovsky and I getting ready to leave for the Oil Barron's Ball. I was 6 months along with my son here but managed to squeeze into a dress! All the funds from the tickets to attend the Ball went to the American Cancer Society, Ron had a heart for hurting people.

Belated condolences to family as I just learned of Ron's passing..

My relationship with Ron dates back to the earliest days of Hawaiian Tropic.  He was still teaching and had just started the business.  Our connection rested to the bottles he needed for packaging  and I was in the packaging business, so I was fortunate to be a supplier and developed a close relationship with him 

I am saddened to learn Ron has left this earth but I know his spirit and many fond memories will stay with us forever.

Ron was an extraordinary person. He was incredibly kind to people including my family. We spent lots of time together at the NCAA Final Four basketball tournaments and talking on the phone. I will always cherish spending time at this home in Ormond Beach and just listening to his stories. You were interested in people, a good listener, and enjoyed life to the fullest.

Ron Rice was a GIANT of a man in all that he did. He was my business partner, my good friend and my mentor and I will miss him terribly.  Always upbeat and full of great conversation and fun antics, there was never a dull moment around Ron. His love for Sterling for Darcy and his loyalty to friends and family I always admired.  Ron,  as I write this I can hear your wonderful and endearing shout when we met again after a long period of time or just recent “Hey Dabo” how is your family? How is Dabo?” And I would smile and give you a huge hug. I wish I could do that right now! I will miss you, I will miss your bright eyes and warm smile and I will forever be grateful to you for believing in me… may you rest with the angels as you are a GIANT among them too, I am sure.

Our partner, Ron Rice, with Habana Brisa has died at age 81.
Today like so many others our team is reeling from the news that Ron Rice passed away this morning. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and dearest friends that were like family to him. In the short time that we worked together he made a huge impact. "Ron Rice was warm, generous and truly a great human being. I will always cherish our dinner meeting and how he opened his home for me to visit and our follow up phone conversations. He was so passionate in his desire to get back into NASCAR he wanted to see "his" car on the track. “I am humbled and honored to have been able to make that dream come true for him" said Mark Daniel, Co-Owner of C&D Promotions, LLC and Cicci Motorsports, LLC. Ron Rice you will be missed, but never forgotten! Rest in peace! Until we meet again.



Far too many memories to share in this one note. I can only say the memories with Ron are life changing  to me, and forever a part of my heart and soul.  From the 1st day I met Ron when he pulled up in his infamous Lamborghini with product to give away at the pageant I hosted in 1982, to Ron judging my Las Vegas Model Search 5 years ago at the MGM, Ron was one of the sweetest, funny, giving, quirky, loving and most fun guy to share a moment with.  Forever grateful he was a true friend.  This has hit so many of us hard because so many of us loved Ron and always will.

I'll never forget one Christmas when I gave Ron a picture of Darcy and the girls in the back of my limo going to pick up Robin Leach drinking Dom perignon and had french fries in their nose so I took a picture and Darcy came over when I gave the present to the both of them and she was slightly embarrassed to say the least but. It was the funniest thing ever I mean what can you give a guy that has everything but love Ron's you'll be missed by many still loved by many and you will be thought about people's memories on a daily basis rest in peace PS tell my parents I love them

Mr Ron thank you for the ideas you had years ago to  create your brand Hawaiian Tropic. You put together the best teams to move the brand into all markets. I am so sad. Sad for the lost of my dear friend Ron Rice . No one can ever come close up to be like you .

Saw you for the last time in France in july 2021 . I knew you struggle with health but i wish there could have been a cure so you could feel well again and stay here many years more .

You have always taken secure care for all girls when you travel around World, so nothing bad could happen. You treated us all good as i saw when i were with you.

You were always  happy when i saw you in your favorit place surrended with pretty girls where you told stories . You remembered all of everyone even things we told or did for 20-30-40 years ago . That is for sure an amazing brain to remember all. 
You have for sure had a good life mostly and more than every plp are able too. You were Ron the country boy who manege to build up your amazing life and business with many plp behind you, all years since you were young . 
We have had so many fun times in your house and around . 

My Heart & Prayers, goes out to All of Ron’s Family & Friends. When I think about Ron, it takes me back to many fond memories, since the early 80’s. Opening Chart House in 1982, Ron, his good buddy, Wink & the Hawaiian Tropic, girls, would  come for dinner, year after year, ask for me, taking up all the window tables, that wrapped around, the entire building. All other customers were in amazement, seeing all those beauties, in one place. Attended many great parties, at his home on the beach, in ORMOND. Sailed on his beautiful Yacht,  Princess Sterling, named after his daughter.  Regattas, off  the beach at Treasure Island, were such happy memories. Working at Treasure Island,  in Daytona Beach Shores, where there was a Hawaiian Tropic hut, that pool deck was a #1, seller of his many Hawaiian Tropic products. The fragrance of  the Tropical oils filled the air. When I think about Ron Rice, it takes me back, to growing up & living my best of times & life here,  in Daytona Beach.  Ron, was a kind, gentle, generous soul. Thank You, Ron, for the happy memories. Never be forgotten, Peacefully Rest.

I first met Ron at the Granda Approach in Ormond my hometown and he was selling Orange tee-shirts with a Life Guard logo and Hawaiian Tropic logo for $2.00 and that began a 52 year Friendship that involved developing distributors in many states and evolved into my own Distribution in the 13 States known as the Northeast Territory we meet several times at that approach and agreed that we would never argue in frount of any one we agreed to me day or night at that location we meet at 2:00am on occasion our Friendship was much more than many never understood we would talk about each of our thoughts as to how we could grow the company and trips to pick up Linda Ron’s first wife and travel together all over New England during the Winter that solidified or Friendship Forever Miss our talks Gene 

I have so many wonderful memories of Ron. Starting as a high school science teacher, life guard on the beach , sitting on the back porch of Ron’s round house putting labels on the sun tan products while he created them in his garage. Later on working as a Squirt Girl on the beach then working at hotels taking pictures of guests then selling them to the guests the following day. Ron was a wonderful mentor and friend. He will truly be missed. RIP my friend. 

Ron became a family friend when he was our next door neighbor. He continued that friendship after he moved. He will be remembered fondly. My sincerest condolences to the family. 

I met Ron at a fund raising event for the American Society at his home many years ago. I was impressed by his generosity.  He was a normal every day guy who showed humility despite his success. Your hard work is done and your legacy continues. It is time for your eternal rest. May it be in peace.

When he saw me walking in,  He excitedly  yelled out, PERUVIAN,  come sit down next to me, I want to show you something!!!
 He was so excited to show me his new company suntan lotion brochure that featured  the beautiful Miss Peru on the cover. 
I spend the whole day by his side, listening to all of the amazing memories and stories he would share with all of his friends who would stop by our chairs to give Ron their love!

I just moved to Daytona in 1988. I so remember going to Fairview Church and witnessed Ron and Darcy get married and Sterling was just born. I asked Darcy if I could see her ring she was the most beautiful bride I ever seen. She kindly popped her head out of the limousine and showed me her ring Um WOW!! Ormond Beach and Daytona area are sure going to miss you Ron. Prayers to your loved ones.🙏🙏🙏

Ron was an inspiration to all entrepreneurs. He is irreplaceable. My deepest condolences to Sterling. I will never forget him. 

I started working for Ron when I was 14 years old. The friendship remained for over 53 years. He was a good man and an honest man. I last spoke with him just a couple of months ago, his sense of humor still fully intact :) He will be greatly missed. My prayers are with his two daughters and his former wife Darcy, that God will allow them to feel His presence and put His peace upon them.
