Gloria Ann Kowing, 86, of Holly Hill, Bishop’s Glen, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018. She was born to the late Grover Cleveland Hatler and Esther Hatler on September 24, 1931. Gloria attended Turkey Creek High School in Dover, FL. Upon graduation in 1950, she entered the US Air Force and became a member of the second WAF (Woman’s Air Force) squadron in Air Force History. She met the love of her life, Sgt. Fred Kowing and they were married on May 5, 1951 in Nashville, TN. They had 66 wonderful years of marriage. She left the Air Force and became a full-time military wife and mother. She and Fred lived in France, Germany, Italy, Thailand, and Turkey and travelled extensively throughout the world. She was an avid quilter, and was very active in the Christian Church. She loved traveling with Fred in their RV to Alaska, Canada and the Western US. She leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. She is survived by her husband Fred Kowing, daughters, Deb Scott, Shelley Flint and Dianne Kowing, son-in-law’s, Bob Scott, Chris Vuille and Ian Flint, 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
