Gloria was born in 1937 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. She graduated from W.D. Lowe Vocational School (Windsor, Ont.) in 1955 and St. Petersburg Vocational Technical Institute (St. Petersburg, FL) as Floral Designer in 1986.
Gloria passed on August 11, 2022 peacefully in her home surrounded by family. Her quick smile and wonderful sense of humor brought joy to those around her.
She was employed as a secretary for Ford Motor Company and Chrysler Corporation in Windsor after high school. Gloria married Art Bowen in 1957, and moved her young family to Daytona Beach, Florida in 1970, where they owned and operated El Morroco Motel until 1977. She found her niche working as a realtor until she retired in 2012.
Gloria was an active member at Riverside Presbyterian Church from 1979 until it closed in 1999, then at Christ Presbyterian Church. She served as an Elder, President of Women’s Auxiliary, Treasurer of Women’s Auxiliary, member of the Building Committee, and Assistant Treasurer.
Gloria valued the friendships gained during her church and volunteer work. She volunteered at Lenox School and Ortona School, including volunteer leadership roles. She served on the PTA Board at Ortona School and Seabreeze Junior High School. She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles #3800 Ormond Beach, where she was twice selected as President. She also served as Junior Past Madam President, Ritual Team of Ormond Beach, Florida State Officer, and District Trustee. She was actively engaged in the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1232 Ormond Beach, served as President of the Hummel Club, and President and Secretary of the Riverside Condominium Association Board of Directors. In addition to her community service activities, Gloria enjoyed many trips, travels, and cruises with close friends and the Red Hat Club, Daytona Divas.
Gloria brought smiles to many with her baking and crafts, and her gardening and was often heard cheering for her favorites in football, hockey, auto racing, swimming, golf, or Dancing with the Stars.
Gloria is survived by sons William and Robert (Martha), and daughter Patricia Mossing; grandsons Daniel (Emily), Alex (Hannah), and Brendan. Gloria is survived by her sister Mary Lou Happy and was predeceased by her brother Donald Monaghan 1995). She found great joy in recent years in her great granddaughters Kaytlyn, KayLee, Teagan; and great grandson Declan. Gloria was predeceased by her parents Bryce & Vera Monaghan, her husband, Art (1980), and many beloved friends.
