Frank Parisi, 84, passed to heaven on May 27, 2017 at his home in Palm Coast, Florida with his loving wife by his side. He had been a resident of Florida since 1996, having retired from a career in education in New Jersey, where he was born.
As a teenager, Frank moved to Italy with his family and completed high school and college overseas. Upon his return to the U.S., Frank spent 2 years in the Army, serving in Korea just after the Korean War. He remained in the United States completing a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s Degree in Student Personnel Services and Administration. Frank taught Biology for 15 years and completed his 38 year career as a Guidance Counselor in North Bergen, N.J.. He was loved very much and admired in his professional life as well as in his personal life. Frank was always ready with a quick story or anecdote to relay the importance of a principle he was trying to impart to his students or his own children. As a result, he truly did “Guide”.
Family was of primary importance to Frank, and his children felt that on a daily basis. Among his attributes was his generosity – of spirit and monetarily. He always wanted his family to be well provided for in love, pleasures and primarily education.
A major part of Frank’s life was his love of the outdoors – fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed target shooting, skeet and trap. When he was with nature he was most happy and relished growing figs from a tree that originated in his great grandmother’s garden in Italy, and also growing seasonal vegetables in his garden every spring and summer. His indoor activity included watching sports, football and baseball – especially his favorite team of all, the New York Yankees.
His family included his wife Diane (Merola) of 47 years, and his two sons: Leonard who is an Executive Vice President in Private Wealth Management in Manhattan and Mark who is an Executive Vice President of a nationwide Dental Prosthetic company in Palm Beach. He also leaves behind his adorable and precious grandchildren: Nicholas, Adriana, Christopher, and Dominic (ages 11 through 4). His brother Dr. Joseph Parisi and wife Jessica, and his cousins, who were like a brother and sister, Dr. Frank Parisi, wife Katherine Rose and Concetta (Parisi) Norris and her husband James, all Florida residents, who deeply morn his loss. His N.J. relatives include his beloved cousins Concetta (Parisi) Manfredonia, Anna (Parisi) and Ronald Catoggio who were also deeply devoted to Frank and his family. His wife’s relatives were more than in-laws to Frank, they were again like brothers and sisters: Lorraine and Walter Cloughly and Richard and Nancy Merola. Pre-deceasing Frank are his mother and father, Emma and Leonardo Parisi, his in-laws Rose and Joseph Merola, Eleanor and Ralph Amoia, Joseph Merola Jr, and his cousin Louis Manfredonia.
