She was born on June 9, 1933 in Paterson, NJ to the late Rheinhold and Henrietta Ratzlaff. Betty and her beloved husband Henry have been residents of the Ormond Beach area for 61 years. She enjoyed music, playing the piano and organ; she was also very adept at needlework and cross-stitch. Betty also enjoyed the Poconos Mountains as a young girl and later in life at the family vacation home in Hayesville, NC. She was a faithful worker and member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Holly Hill. Betty was always happy and loved by all who knew her.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Rheinhold and Henrietta Ratzlaff and her sisters Ellen and Etsie.
She is survived by; her beloved husband of 61 years Henry Wittenberg, her sons; Steven Wittenberg (Susan) and John Wittenberg (Claudia), her daughter, Lori J. Bonnevier (John). Betty is also survived by her brother Ronald (Ellie) and sister Marie, as well as 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as “Nana”.
The family will be receiving guests from 10:30 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. on Saturday February 14, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 1205 Ridgewood Avenue, Holly Hill, FL 32117. The funeral service to celebrate the life of Betty is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. immediately following the visitation, at the church. The interment will follow the service at Volusia Memorial Park, located at 550 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Betty’s memory to either, Trinity Lutheran Church, 1205 Ridgewood Avenue, Holly Hill, FL 32117 or Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
