William R. Miller

William “Bill” Robert Miller, 84 of Brewster, MA, formerly of Orleans, MA, entered into eternal rest on May 16, 2023. He was born to Rebecca (Fore) and William H. Miller in Olla, LA, August 27, 1938. He served in the US Navy as a submariner onboard the U.S.S. Grampus and U.S.S. Kittiwake. He married Jean on November 26, 1960 and eventually settled to raise their family in South Windsor and Glastonbury CT before moving to Orleans, MA, where they spent a majority of their retirement. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and in retirement sailing his CatBoat, shellfishing, canoeing and walking the beach daily with his wife and with family during visits.

Bill is predeceased by his parents, brother Harry and sister Rosa Gail of Louisiana. He is survived by his wife Jean, as well as his three children; Michael Miller of South Windsor, CT, Christopher (Pamela) Miller of Brewster, MA, Melinda (Jeffrey) Woods of Colchester, CT. Bill cherished his grandchildren, Tanzia (Justin) Hood, Corwin Miller, Joshua and Erin Woods all of CT; and Rebecca and Quinn Miller of Brewster, MA as well as his in-laws; Cathy Mclelland, NY, George (Carole) Colwell, CT, Heather (Robert) Lundgren, CT; and Rosetta (Noel) Arnold, NY and many nephews and nieces.

Visiting Hours will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the Nickerson Funeral Home, Orleans, MA at 9:30am to 10:30am followed by Mass at 11:00 am at St Joan of Arc, Orleans. Burial will take place at The National Cemetery, Bourne, MA at 1:15pm the same day. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Continuum Hospice and Alzheimer's Association:
