Theresa Rosalie Toscano, loving matriarch of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, passed away on February 21, 2022. She was born on April 27, 1929, and happily married to Anthony Toscano for 52 years. She spent her early life in Brooklyn, N.Y., later moving to Westchester County. She attended the Pratt Institute, but withdrew after her father’s untimely death, in order to run her family’s ecclesiastical art restoration business. After raising her three children, she started working as a real estate agent, excelling throughout her career in both Scarsdale, NY, and later in Orleans, MA.
Her friends were many! She created lasting relationships with her neighbors, as well as her co-workers and clients whom she met during her years at Kinlin Grover, Orleans. She worked until she was 88, ever the professional and supportive friend to all. She took pride, happiness and satisfaction in finding each client the perfect home.
She is survived by her loving children, Dr. Robert R. Toscano and Dr. Maribeth Toscano (spouse), Diana Toscano-Gross, Loretta Toscano-Daley and Robert Daley (spouse). She will be missed by her extraordinary grandchildren, Laura Toscano and Tom Steffes (fiancé), Dr. Robert A. Toscano and Dr. Jillian Dur (spouse), Elise Toscano and Roberto Bettega (spouse), Jennifer and Michael Goodfriend (spouse), Carla Gross, Henry Gross and Julia Shor (fiancée), and Claire Daley. Her great grandchildren are Bennett and Sylvie Toscano, and Russell Goodfriend, who will learn about her as they grow up, through the retelling of the many stories and the wisdom their ‘Amom’ left behind.
We hope you will remember our Mom and ‘Amom’ as a woman of integrity with a fierce loyalty to her family and friends, always willing to help without expectation of anything in return. During her time at Maplewood at Brewster, she found her strength in knowing that God was with her. She showed endless kindness and love to all, and never stopped being grateful for all that life had given her. Even in her last days, her positive spirit inspired us and will continue to live on through all of us who were lucky enough to have known her.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated on March 19, 2022. It will begin at 10 AM at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church, in Orleans, MA, with a reception immediately following.
