Ruth Carolyn Cummings

Ruth was born to the late Harold and Ethel (Sandblom) Larson Feb. 20, 1929 in Quincy, MA. Ruth graduated from Woodward School for Girls in Quincy in 1946 and attended Bridgewater Teacher’s College.

She was married to the late Charles Cummings in 1952 and they enjoyed 55 years together in RI, Long Island NY, NJ, MI and finally fulfilling their dream of moving permanently back to Cape Cod in 1976.

Ruth was preceded in death by her sister, Doris Youngholm and her brother, Edward Larson. She is survived by her brother Frank Larson and his wife Beverly of Yarmouthport, MA; her son David Cummings and his wife Charlotte of Mesa, AZ and their three boys, Kenneth, Jared, and Christopher Cummings; her daughter Joan Cummings of Eastham, MA and granddaughter, Jeanette Wilczek of Grand Rapids, MI; her step daughter Carol Nolan and husband George of Seekonk MA and their children, Paul and Glenn; her step daughter Robin Falco and her children Susan and Tommy; her cousins Robert Erickson and Joe Sandblom. Additionally, she leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

Ruth was a longtime member of the Eastham United Methodist Church and she loved singing in the choir. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Ruth worked at the Eastham Library, the Eastham Information booth and volunteered at the COA Thrift Store. Ruth always found time to give of herself to her church, her community and her family. She enjoyed making all kinds of things such as ceramics, quilts, afghans and needlepoint projects. She also loved gardening, baking, cooking and reading. Pets were very important in her life, particularly the many cats that were her companions over the years. All who knew her remember her beautiful smile and vivacious laugh.
