Raymond Joseph Jasinski passed away peacefully on June 26, 2024, at the age of 91. Ray was a world-renowned chemist (holds 23+ U.S. and International patents, published one book, authored many papers, 70 years of service with the American Chemical Society and slews of invites to speak on chemistry both home and abroad, with 3 papers coauthored by Ray and his wife Susan), an avid photographer, a loving spouse, and a father/grandfather/great-grandfather. Ray was born in New Hyde Park, New York on August 31, 1932. Studied for his undergraduate degree in Chemistry at University of Michigan (Go Blue!). He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Iowa State University in 1958.
Ray loved most his wife Susan. Ray and Susan first met at work then bonded over their mutual appreciation for science and travel. Their long and happy marriage landed them on Cape Cod for many vacations and then in retirement starting in 2000. Ray is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susan Jasinski, his brother Arthur Jasinski of New Hyde Park, six children, Eileen and husband Dave Kenzevich, Nick and wife Janet Jasinski, Neal and wife Susan Jasinski, Andrea and husband David Ofgant, Rachel and husband Scott Ormsby and Alex Jasinski, 9 grandchildren, Michelle and husband Bryan Barzaga, Ryan Ofgant, Chris Jasinski, Rachel Jasinski, Greg Jasinski, Erica Jasinski, Violeta Kenzevich, Nathan Ormsby and Katherine Ormsby, plus 3 great grandchildren Ben, Charlotte and Raymond Barzaga.
Ray’s Celebration of Life will be held at Nickerson Funeral Home at 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA 02653 on Saturday July 20, 2024, from 10:00 am - 12:00 Noon. A small service will be held at the Brewster Memorial Cemetery followed by a gathering at the house. All friends and family are welcome. Please feel free to donate to Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster MA, in lieu of flowers or gifts. Both Ray and Susan have been involved with the museum for many years.
