Marie "Ann" (Carnevale) Rogers

Marie “Ann” Carnevale Rogers, 75, a compassionate Noni, mother, teacher, and friend, passed away May 13, 2020 at her home in Eastham, Massachusetts after managing a form of blood cancer for over fifteen years.

Born and raised in Windsor Locks, Connecticut to Francesca Josephina Marinone and Eusebio Carnevale, Ann received her associate’s degree in medical secretary science at Becker Junior College. While employed at Boston’s Children’s Hospital, a supervisor asked her to entertain the children in the waiting room because he noticed her gift of connection with children. While raising her young children, she earned an additional associate’s degree at Cape Cod Community College and a bachelor’s of science in education from Bridgewater State College. She later earned a master’s degree in curriculum development from Lesley University as a single working mother.

Ann taught first grade at Veterans Memorial Elementary School in Provincetown, Massachusetts for 28 years, and served an additional 10 years as a substitute teacher at Eastham Elementary School and within the Nauset Regional School District. Her greatest professional joy was teaching children to read and watching their eyes light up when they figured something out for themselves.

She expressed her joy of living by gardening and planting flowers in her yard, playing with her grandchildren, and entertaining and cooking meals for her family and friends in her home. When asked what makes someone a success, her response was “being kind.”

She leaves behind son William N. Rogers III and wife Christina of Hoover, Alabama, son Charles N. Rogers II of West Dennis, Massachusetts, daughter Kimberly Rogers and husband Patrick Regan of Cambridge, Massachusetts, grandchildren Conor Regan, Kingston, Scotland, and Jameson Rogers, and step-grandchildren Emily Regan and Grace Blackwell.

A plaque outside the door of Ann’s home reads: “Peace to all who enter here.”

A memorial service will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes in Wellfleet, MA and a memorial and burial will take place at St. Mary’s Church in Windsor Locks, CT at a future date.
