Jim was born in Valparaiso, Indiana on April 6, 1939 to Charles and Lydia Delcourt. Jim attended Valparaiso schools and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after graduation. He honorably served 14 years, mostly as an air traffic controller and was an Honor Guard Escort during the Vietnam War. Jim met his wife, Merilyn, when he was stationed in South Weymouth and married on March 18, 1969. Jim was honorably discharged in 1971 and moved to Cape Cod to start his plumbing career. He worked up to Master Plumber and after retiring, he started his own plumbing repair and handyman business called Jim's Odds n Ends. He also taught night school plumbing classes at Cape Cod Tech for many years.
Jim is survived by his son James Delcourt of California, granddaughter Jackie Delcourt of Rhode Island, grandson Keith and wife Amy Delcourt of West Yarmouth, great grandson RJ, and great granddaughters Moana and Jasmine Delcourt, also of West Yarmouth.
He is predeceased by his parents Charles and Lydia Delcourt, brother William Delcourt, wife of 54 years Merilyn Delcourt, step-son Scott Mattoon, and son Charles Delcourt.
Services will be held at Nauset Baptist Church in Eastham, MA on Friday December 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM. A graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery will follow immediately afterwards. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots in Jim's memory.
