He was born in Brockton on November 19, 1948, and he was a devoted spouse of Paula Burge for 51 years. Gerry is survived by his wife and son Chip Burge and wife Jaime, grandsons, Reese and Christopher Burge and Joshua Bodamer. He was predeceased by his daughter Rachel Burge Bodamer. He was the son of Chester and Eleanor Burge from Brockton (deceased). Sister Eleanor Goodspeed and her husband Roger Goodspeed (Florida) and brother Milton Burge and his wife Nancy Burge (Georgia) many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was a 50+ year resident of Orleans, MA. He was a retired Orleans Police Officer of 20 years. He was a charter member of the Cape Cod Bible Alliance Church in Brewster. He was a 55-year member of Paul Revere Lodge AF&AM (Brockton) and Pilgrim Lodge AF&AM (Harwich). He was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star and a past patron 13+ years. These are just a few of the many organizations that Gerry belonged to,as he was extremely active in his community.
Gerry will be remembered for his big heart, big hugs, unwavering support and love of his family, love of the ocean, fishing, camping, skiing, snowmobiling, and Disney.
A memorial visitation will be held at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA, on Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 pm. At 7:00pm there will be an Eastern Star Service. A graveside service will be held at the Orleans Cemetery, Friday, December 20, 2024 at 11:00 am. Followed by a Masonic Service also at graveside.
