Leonard C. Massey, 82, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on 8/26/12. Preceded in death by parents Ivan and Maggie Massey, brother Frank Massey and sister Una Pate. Survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Doris, children Doug (Christy), Martha Wood (Larry) & Mark (Samantha), grandchildren Michael (Kelly) Ryan, Jamie and Miles, sisters Ruth Halverson & Lorene Barfield and many nieces and nephews. A loving husband and father, Leonard valued family above all else. He was a man of great faith and was a dedicated and long time member of the First Alliance Church, serving in various capacities, including greeter. Leonard had an uncanny ability to remember names & faces and never met a stranger. Woodworking was a special gift of his as well as decorating for Christmas which brought joy to many. A long time employee of Orlando Utilities Commission, Leonard served as foreman of the electric meter shop. He retired in 1985 after 35 years of service. He was respected and admired by many. Many thanks to the fabulous staff and volunteers of Hospice of the Comforter for the tender loving care that was shown to Leonard and his entire family. A formal viewing is to take place at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home at 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL 32806, on Thursday, August 30, from 6-8p.m. The memorial service will be held at the First Alliance Church on Sunday, September 2 at 3p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Alliance Church, 3800 Lake Underhill Rd., Orlando, FL 32803 or Hospice of the Comforter, 605 Montgomery Road, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714.
