Harry Joseph Arnold

Dr. Harry J. Arnold

March 29, 1925 – September 25, 2024

Hap was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. As a veteran of World War II, he participated in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign as a member of the Naval Air Force. Following his release from the armed forces, he began his academic career at Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he received the degree of Chiropractic. He continued his studies in physical medicine by taking additional work at Central States College of Physiatrics in Eaton, Ohio, where the degree of Doctor of Mechanotherapy was conferred upon him. He specialized in athletic injuries and was associated with the Cincinnati Mohawks ice hockey team and later served as a consulting physician with the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.

In 1956, Hap graduated from Nyack College, Nyack, NY, where he earned a Bachelor of Theology degree and later served as assistant director of development.

For more than thirty seven years Arnold served as pastor with the Christian and Missionary Alliance, ministering in both established and new church planting endeavors. As a church planter, he was used as a resource person in starting of new congregations, both in the Alliance and other denominations. He served as a contributing author to “The Church Planter’s Manual” and “Churches Planting Churches Manual,” publications of The Christian and Missionary Alliance. In 1981, Arnold lectured at the American Festival of Evangelism held in Kansas City, Missouri, on the subject of “How to Establish a New Church Without a Committed Core Group.” He also served as a contributing author to books on evangelism, “Let The Church Obey His Voice,” published by the American Festival of Evangelism.

In addition, Hap has served as extension director and as superintendent in the Southeastern District. Arnold also served as a trustee at Toccoa Falls College, Toccoa, Georgia and as a member of the Board of Directors at Shell Point Village Retirement Center in Fort Myers and the Alliance Retirement Center in Deland, Florida. He also chaired the Lake Swan Board of Directors, a camping ministry in Melrose, Florida. Other ministry assignments by the Alliance took him to Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Japan and China. Arnold’s last assignment in the Alliance was that of National Director of Church Planting (1994-1996).

Dr. Arnold is survived by his two children: Paul and Cindy; and adopted daughter (deceased) Andrea’s, 2 grandchildren (Kelley & Jennifer), 4 great grandchildren (Corbin, Ryan, Katelyn, and David), and a new great great grandchild, Jackson.
