She was born on July 14th, 1942 to the late Irene Rivera and Emiliano Riverain in Santurce, Puerto Rico; but, spent much of her life in New York City, New York.
Alma had a variety of jobs in her life but her main accomplishments were being a Cosmetologist/Beautician and Certified Nursing Assistant.
Alma lost the upper part of her index finger in her early twenties working at a chocolate candy factory; her running joke was she was making “lady fingers”.
Her hobbies consisted of going to the casino, playing bingo and poker, feeding people, she loved making jokes, cooking, dancing, singing, crossword puzzles, reading, spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Alma always lived for her family and put her family first; she made that her only goal in life. God and prayer was a daily constant in Alma’s life. She had a warmth about her that made everyone who met her feel like they had always known her; she made them feel like family. She radiated a light that everyone just gravitated towards because of her humor and good-nature. She would speak to everyone wherever she went. She was extremely independent and never stopped doing new things if they were going to bring positivity to her life.
Alma is survived by her three children: Juan Emilio Irizarry, Jr; Emma Irene Irizarry, and Edna Ivonne Colon; her seven grandchildren: Ivonne Michelle Villegas, Kayla Ann Colon, Kiara Velazquez, Emily Nicole Marrero, Elia Margarita Marrero, Andrew Cardona, and Rene Cardona; and her two great-grandchildren: Jacob Gavin and Adellisse Rose.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Family Funeral Care in Orlando, Florida.
