Joseph S. Coleman, age 80, of Tinley Park, passed on May 21st due to pneumonia, while at Manteno Veterans Home. Cherished and loving husband to Sandra. Son of the late J.W. Coleman and Emma Coleman of Slater, Missouri.
Devoted father to Misty Kink of Kirksville, Missouri, Stepdaughters Dawn Parker of Shiloh Illinois, Dr. Melinda Woofter (Jeff) Granville of Ohio and Melissa Macinnis (Mike) Taft of Texas. Also survived by brothers Jim Coleman (Shirley) of Oak Grove Missouri, Eddy Coleman (Kathy) of Liberty, Missouri and sister Hazel Hiserote of Cosby, Missouri. Joe was a grandfather of 12, great grandfather of 9 and an uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Joe was a Vietnam Veteran of 2 years Army, with many Expeditionary medals. He was a life Member of Owen W. Winter Jr. VFW Post 4241 in Oak Forest, Illinois and the American Legion.
Joseph retired June 2003 from Metra with 38 years of railroad experience, training many to be Engineers.
A visitation will be held Thursday, July 16th at the Orland Funeral Home, 9900 West 143rd Street, Orland Park, IL from 5 - 7 PM. Memorial Services also at the Orland Funeral Home Friday, July 17th at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 West Hoff Road, Elwood, IL with limited attendance there.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
