Evelyn Mae Hall, 92, a 30-year resident of Orange Park, Florida peacefully passed away at her home on August 30, 2017. She was the sixth child of nine children born to Conrad and Mary Ann Helzer, on April 24, 1925 in Crook, Colorado. Over the years she also resided in California, Texas, New Mexico, and Arkansas.
Her career consisted of 42 years as a Medical Laboratory Technician and to relieve the boredom of retirement, a brief time as an inserter of advertisements for the Clay Today newspaper. While raising a family, she led a life full of adventure from traveling, hunting, flying, to farming. Evie was an animal and nature lover, avid reader, part-time gardener, DIY carpenter, and community volunteer. She could cook, bake bread, and “can” veggies from the garden, although her greatest talent was sewing. Her skills as a phenomenal seamstress touched so many lives in so many different ways.
Known to most as “Grammie”, she was loved by young and old, and will be remembered for her loving nature, kindness, generosity and compassion. She was a beautiful and clever individual who loved to laugh and give hugs; this classy lady was very resourceful, practical, a good listener and full of valuable wisdom to share. A life lived as a sweet reminder of all the things that matter most, and a beautiful gift in the lives of everyone touched by her. As the loving presence at the heart of our family, Grammie’s passing will leave an emptiness for years to come.
Evelyn was pre-deceased by her husband of 61 years, Arthur Lane, a grandson, Justin Everett, and daughter-in-law Deborah Hall. She is survived by her loving children; Michael Hall, Charles Hall (Nancy), Melanie Tharp (Jim) and Julia Hall; 10 grandchildren; Heather Mitchell (Greg), Tracy Hinton (Robert), Holly Everett, Nicholas Tharp (Lisa), Jared Hall (Veronika), Caelli Koehler (Andrew), Kaila Howard (Joshua), Resa Ebadi, Charles Blome (Danielle) and Katie Blome; as well as 12 great-grandchildren ranging in ages from 1 to 15; Jared, Madelyn, Caitlin, Wyatt, Avery, Jacob, Cole, Leah, Dylan, Charlotte, Trenton, and Bailee.
A memorial service will be held 11 AM Friday September 8, 2017 at HARDAGE-GIDDENS RIVERMEAD FUNERAL HOME, 127 Blanding Blvd Orange Park, Florida 32073. An inurnment by the family at Peoria Cemetery will take place at a later date.
Flowers are welcome or donations can be sent to Community Hospice Foundation, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257 “In Memory of Evelyn Hall”. The family sends a special and heartfelt thanks to the staff of Community Hospice for their care, love, and respect you showered over our Mom during her last several months.
