Tom was born in Richwood, WV on March 22, 1941. After graduating from Charleston High School, he enlisted and served in the United States Coast Guard Reserve from 1960-1968. He moved to Opa-Locka, FL in 1961 where he met and married his beautiful wife Mary Ann Adams. He retired from Florida Power and Light after working for them for 40 years.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycles with friends, family camping to Bryson City, NC, woodworking, and watching sports, especially the Florida Gators. He was very talented and loved to craft many things from wood. He made swings, rocking horses, wagons, cradles, children's tables and chairs, but by far the most loved and cherished would be the beautiful toy boxes he made for each of his grandchildren.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Breton and Helen Vanetta, and his sister Kay Eplin. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Ann as well as his children Breton (Jeanne) Vanetta, Deanna (David) Dye, and Beverly Williams. Also, his sisters Nancy Rowley, and Peggy (Jack) Parsons along with numerous nieces and nephews. He has seven grandchildren that he was very proud of; Trevor, Jessica, and Savanna Dye, Emily and Miranda Williams, Nathanael (Hadley) and Grace Vanetta.
Please join us in celebrating his life on Saturday, September 3, 2022. Visitation will be held at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home 1295 Saxon Blvd Orange City, FL 32763, at 11:00am with the service at 12:00pm.
