Gloria graduated the class of 1965 from Miami Northwestern High School. She continued her education at Florida Memorial College and earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Criminology/ Sociology.
A Time to Love
Gloria was joined in marriage to Anthony D. Barnes on November 23, 1977 in Miami, Florida.
They've been married 41 years. To this union 2 children were born- Damone W. Barnes & Anthony D. Barnes II. She also welcomed 2 stepchildren Marie Barnes and Rochelle Barnes.
A Time to Worship
Accepting Christ at an early age, Gloria subsequently joined Universal Truth Center.
A Time to Work and Serve
Gloria worked with the Family Health Center as a social worker for 8 years. Later she moved to New York & worked as an Intake Director for Wildcat Services Drug Treatment Program for 8 years. She then returned to Miami, Florida where she was employed by the Division of Blind Services for 18 years. Following the birth of her children, she did not return to full-time employment but served the community as a volunteer for various agencies and programs.
A Time to Die
Gloria departed this life on March 19, 2016. She was preceded in death by her brothers Curtis Larkin Jr. & Dwight Larkin. She always believed that it was important to raise your children well and to be a good parent, and enjoy the life that God has given you.
A Time to Mourn
Witnessing the close of Gloria's life are those who were precious and dear to her heart. She is survived by her husband Anthony; children Damone (Patrice) & Anthony (Lynda); Step Daughters Marie and Rochelle. Brother Desi Arnes Larkin (Margaret); Sisters Carolyn Clark, Judy Cunningham (Tyrone), Patricia Stephens (Omega), Rachel Lewis (Herbert), Sandra Green & Cynthia Ward (Hubbard); Grandchildren: Damone Barnes Jr., Dominic Barnes, Davidra Barnes, Anthony Barnes III, Ajahneay Barnes, Kayland Sejour, Wayland Sejour, Tayland Sejour, Aleajah Hinds, Ashira Hinds.5 Great Grandchildren; Special Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, Loving Aunts & Other relatives and friends.
