Eugene "Gene" Allen Stump, age 88 years old, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021 to be with the Lord. He was born on February 25, 1933 in Rensselaer, Indiana to the late Edgar Everett Stump and Verna (Logsdon) Stump.
Gene was a 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was "decorated" with the "Bronze Star". He traveled all over the world. His career in the Air Force was cryogenics; making liquid oxygen.
Upon retirement from the Air Force, while living in Ogden, Utah and working on Hill Air Force Base, Gene went into Civil Service, earning all certifications needed in the Field of Water and Waste Management; performing Top Management duties.
Gene then became involved once again in military service by administering tests to soldiers wanting to increase in rank.
In 1989, Gene relocated to the Orlando area. For retirement "fun" he drove for Transtar Limousines, transporting dignitaries and drove many famous people.
Gene is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Coolidge) Stump and a blended family of four children; Wanda Stump, Janita (Stump) Thomson, Jayson Stump, Lorraine (Stump) Akemann; four bonus children; Sandra Chestnutt, Susan Beltran, Ann Converse and Cathy Siano. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter whom he adored.
Gene will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, very fun grandfather and was affectionately known by his self proclaimed nickname of "Willie Lump Lump".
A visitation for Gene will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Boulevard, Orange City, Florida 32763. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM. A committal service will occur at Deltona Memorial Gardens, 1295 Saxon Boulevard, Orange City, Florida 32763.
