Joann Elizabeth Boliantz, age 94, of Mansfield passed away early Tuesday morning, December 10, 2024, at Trustwell Living at Mansfield Place. She was born October 11, 1930, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Anton and Olga (Getz) Betz.
One of eight children, Joann learned how to be competitive as well as independent. She never backed down from a challenge, had a positive, upbeat attitude and was kind and generous. She was a wonderful cook and amazing homemaker. For a time, she worked with her husband, Edward, in the family business, Boliantz Hardware. Joann was a list-maker and enjoyed making a special list for each family member. She was organized, an avid gardener and created unique needlework and sewing projects. A longtime member of Apostolic Christian Church on Middle-Bellville Road, where she was a Sunday school teacher of the nursery class and directed numerous children’s choir programs over the years.
Left to cherish her memory are her five children, Debra (Dave) Gerhart, Steve (Joy) Boliantz, John (Monica) Boliantz, Doug (Connie) Boliantz and Don (Joyce) Boliantz; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren with one on the way; a brother, Roger Betz; and two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Betz and Helen Boliantz.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Boliantz; two grandchildren, Kristi and Jessica; four sisters, Linda Webel, Vi Bartoff, Esther Vogel and Alice Ebinger; and two brothers, Clifford and Albert Betz.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park beside her husband. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or SouthernCare Hospice.
