She was born March 14, 1933, in Middlebourne, West Virginia, to the late Okey Herbert and Helen Grace (Wachenschwanz) Eddy. Betty was employed as a registered nurse at Mansfield General Hospital, People’s Hospital and Gorman Rupp. She was a very active member of Brookwood Way Church of Christ. She loved to read—especially mysteries. She enjoyed crafting and would often sell her crafts at the TWIG Bazaar to benefit Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Betty regularly knitted baby hats and gave them to OhioHealth Shelby Hospital. She enjoyed traveling all over the world. Most of all, she treasured time spent with her family.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Janet (David) Pritchard and Debi (Barry) Armstrong; six grandchildren, Aaron, Matthew and Sarah Pritchard, Sean Armstrong, Amanda Farnam and McKenna Fleck; ten great-grandchildren; a special niece, Carol Chamberlin; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Herman Perry; a sister, Elva Hess; and a half-sister, Carol Clements.
The family will receive from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 10:00 a.m. with Mr. Rick Rogers officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Mansfield Memorial Park.
