Patricia was born May 29, 1930 to John and Kathryn DeLagrange in Van Buren, Arkansas. She married Robert in 1948 and moved to California in 1952. She was a loving mother and home-maker. She was a long-time employee of Sears Service Department in San Bernardino, commuting in her VW station-wagon with her “BAMAW” license plate. After she retired, she helped care for her father-in-law, Basil Shepherd, until he passed in 2005.
Patricia moved to Oregon in 2006; she enjoyed the cool, rainy weather and trips to the coast. She also enjoyed watching the cattle and wildlife, such as deer, turkeys, and birds, which she could see from her front porch. She especially enjoyed the hummingbirds which she would feed year-round. Her favorite times were spent reading and listening to classic music with her Rottweiler Zuri curled up beside her; she also enjoyed shopping for bargains with her daughter Lynn.
Patricia was pre-deceased by her husband Robert L. Shepherd, her brother James DeLagrange, her sister Mary Louise DeLagrange Edwards, son-in-law Raymond Hoy, and child-hood friend Pat Bower.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law Dorothy (Bill) Flatters of Valley Center and Laura (Jim) Dunn of Upland, her brother-in-law Glenn Edwards of Porterville, her four children: Gregory (Ena) Shepherd of Apple Valley, Christopher Shepherd of Tampa, Florida, Roberta Lynn (David) Stauffer of Sweet Home, Oregon, and Suzane “Susi” Hoy of La Mesa; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30pm on Monday, February 16th at Draper Mortuary in Ontario.
In lieu of flowers, donations to your local animal shelter or the World Wildlife Fund in memory of Patricia Shepherd are appreciated.
