Patricia J. Lucas was born on May 12th, 1943 in Burbank, CA. Beloved Wife, Daughter, Sister, Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma; she passed away peacefully in her home on Friday January 9th surrounded by family who adored her.
Pat met George Lucas in 1961 at her Aunt's Café. Pat would pay her coworker .50 cents to be able to wait on George. He always ordered a roast beef sandwich on wheat bread and a cup of coffee. He would tip her a dime – she lost money on the deal every time. George finally asked her on a date and the rest was history. They were married for close to 49 years before George’s passing.
Pat spent most of her working life as a waitress and then a florist. She would often have her daughter Karri help her at the flower shop on holidays. It was then, tired at the end of a 12 hour day filled with delivering flowers all over town, hands torn up by thorns, Karri realized just how hard her mom worked for their family. In addition to their day jobs, every Saturday before the sun rose, George and Pat would go to garage sales to purchase items to then go sell at the swap meet on Sunday. They stopped selling at the swap only 5 years ago.
Pat was often the butt of her very snarky family’s jokes. While she would protest to this, she would have a huge smile on her face and be laughing along with everyone. A prompting to have her spell something or say something such as Rosh Hashanah would quickly send everyone back in to fits of laughter.
She loved nothing more than her family. To her, family was everything and she would do anything for them no matter what. She is survived by her twin Brother Mike, her Brother Steve, Daughter Stephanie, Sons George & John and Daughter Karri. She was beyond happy to become a Grandma to her Grandchildren: Kory, Kasey, Lhana & Jack, Andrew & Paige, Harrison & Cameron and then become a Great-Grandma to Chance. She also leaves behind a Son-in-law Scott and 3 Daughters in-law Debbie, Nancy and Martinka, her adoring dog Chloe and many extended family members who will all miss her very much. She was preceded in death by her parents John & Dorothy Holt and Husband George.
Services will be held on Friday, January 16th, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., Draper Mortuary in Ontario. There is a public viewing on Thursday night from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to a charity that supports and betters the lives of senior citizens. Another way of honoring her would be to take some time to visit a senior citizen in your life or go to a senior center and donate some time.
