Lawerence “Larry” Leflet Lovelady was born November 17, 1918 and passed into Paradise on Thursday, December 1, 2016. He died of complications of a fall, which occurred the day following a great party celebrating his 98th birthday.
In 1940, Larry married Georgianna Henrietta Fisher of Riverside, Ca. He became half-owner of a Shell Service Station and she worked in the City Clerks office in Riverside. Larry was a Veteran of WWII (1st Sgt, U.S. Army, Combat Engineers) seeing action in the Philippines and Japan. He lived in Upland for 48 years, the owner of Larry’s Shell Service (Arrow at Euclid and Foothill at Mountain). Born in Seminole, Texas his family soon moved to Crowell, Texas. He was second youngest in a family of ten children, and the last surviving child of Phillip and Pearl Leflet Lovelady.
He is preceded in death by wives Georgianna (1998) and Irene Brizinski (2014). Larry is survived by his loving family: children, Sheryl Lovelady Feinberg and David (Elk Grove, Ca), Phillip Charles Lovelady and Marcia (Upland, Ca); grandchildren, Robert Feinberg (Sacramento, Ca), Kristen Lovelady McInnis and Brian (Arcadia, Ca), and Kevin Lawrence Lovelady (New York, NY); and great-grandsons, Elliot and Miles McInnis.
Larry was a dedicated, deeply caring man of great strength. He is already greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Along-time member of Upland First United Methodist Church, 262 N. Euclid Avenue, Upland, California and services will be held at the church on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park, Ontario, California.
