Johnny Alexander Barela Sr.

Johnny was born in Pomona, CA to David Candelaria Barela and Mercedes Correa Barela on September 16, 1962. He attended Montclair High School. He worked as a groundskeeper and landscaper at the Claremont Colleges as a young man.

He is preceded in death by his father David C. Barela, brothers David Barela and Ruben Barela, sisters Rachel Barela, Gloria Jean Barela, and Betty "Baby" Barela Gonzales.

Johnny is survived by his children, Johnny Barela Jr. (Cynthia Barela), Amber Barela and Gabriel Barela, mother Mercedes Correa Barela Ramirez (Rogelio Ramirez), sisters Yolanda Barela Zepeda (Vicente Zepeda), Mercedes "Mercy" Barela Terrazas (Gerardo Terrazas), Ortencia Barela Sanchez (Peter Sanchez), Sylvia Barela Lemke (Dan Lemke), brother Jimmy Barela (Tina Barela), grandchildren Hannah Barela, Aadrian Barela, Aavery Barela, Isaiah Rosas, Priscilla Rosas, Bentley Barela, Nikolai Machado, Jasmine Barela, Nathan Barela and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Johnny will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 10:30 AM at Bellevue Memorial Park Mausoleum in the Court of Hope.
