Nancy Ann Smith Moran died unexpectedly early Saturday morning, October 10, 2015 from complications due to a recent bout with cancer. “Mom” was an irreplaceable treasure of a woman. She left her home of Canada as a teenager to attend a western New York Bible School. There she met and fell in love with “Norm”, her life-long love of over 58 years. Their marriage and subsequent ministry together left an impact on others wherever they served. Mom was a musician, a leader of women’s ministries, an expert in hospitality and the art of hosting others, and an Administrative Assistant for the Chair of the Psychology Department at SUNY Geneseo. Most importantly, she was a devoted woman. Devoted to her husband, her family, and the God she served so effectively with her spouse. Nancy is survived by her husband of 58 years Rev. C. Norman Moran, her son Rodger B. (Karen L.) Moran of Oneonta, and her daughter Beth Anne (Douglas) Hawn of Rochester, NY, a brother Roger (Sharelle) Smith of Peterborough, Ontario, plus several loving grandchildren and two recent great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Valerie Ruth Moran (Ken Meyers) of NYC. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Mom and Dad’s last significant ministry together, Compassion Evangelical Hospital in Guinea, Africa. Donations in Mom’s honor may be sent to: Compassion Evangelical Hospital, PO Box 870, Southfield, MI 48037. Funeral services celebrating Mom’s life are Saturday, October 17th at Main Street Baptist Church, 333 Main Street, Oneonta, NY with calling hours from 12:30-2:30 PM and services beginning at 3:00PM.
