Mary was born January 21, 1931 in Greene, NY to James and Mary (Sykora) Delaney. She grew up on the family farm outside of Greene, attended the one room school on King Road with her four siblings until high school when she attended and graduated from Greene Central School in 1948. While still in school she started work at the G.L.F. Egg Station in Greene where she worked until 1951. Mary frequented many square dances with her sister and other friends and subsequently met her husband, Roger at one such dance held at Loomis’ Hayloft in North Pitcher.
She married Roger A. Wilcox of Smyrna on August 19, 1950. They lived on South Chenango St in Greene until they were able to purchase a home and 10 acres on McDonough Road in 1952. In 1955 they purchased a home on Clinton Street in Greene where they lived until 1958 when the growing family moved to Smyrna after Roger's father passed away. In 1960 they bought a farm on Engard Road in Greene. Then in 1961 the family moved to Oneonta then to West Oneonta in 1963 and back to Oneonta in 1968.
Mary worked part time as a switchboard operator at A. O. Fox Memorial Hospital until 1968 when she started work for the Gordon B. Robert's Insurance Agency as a bookkeeper/underwriter until her retirement in 1984.
Mary was a working mother of six children but also enjoyed volunteering at the Boys Club in Oneonta, was a WeightWatchers Coach for many years as well as a Life Time member. Mary was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oneonta, the Altar Rosary Society at St. Mary’s, The Oneonta Business Women’s Association, the Columbiettes and Ladies of the Moose.
Upon her retirement in 1984 the couple bought a fifth wheel camper and left for Florida, where they had purchased a home a few years prior to their retirement. The camper was home for the next 10 years while touring the vast majority of North America. They visited Mexico, all but two of the 50 states and most every corner of Canada as well. They settled in Florida splitting their time between Florida and Oneonta, in the summers. She also enjoyed shuffle board and pinochle leagues but most of all she loved and enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
She is predeceased by her parents, 2 brothers, Thomas Delaney of Gilbertsville, Martin Delaney of Greene, sister and brother in law, Dorothy and Burton Wales of Plymouth, NY, brothers in law, John McDonald of McGraw, NY, Alvin Bradley of Charlotte, NC and sister in law Pat Delaney of Greene.

Mary also leaves behind a large and loving family of nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many friends throughout the United States and Canada. She especially loved the wonderful people at Lake Region Village in Haines City, FL and her lifelong best friend, Margaret Baily Redmond.
Mary was a quick wit and a wiz with numbers hence her love of cards. She was always fast with a smile, a kind word and a hug. She was a gentle lady who always found the good in others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and the world is a duller place without her.
