Joseph J. Guerriero

Joseph J. Guerriero, 69, of Morris passed away on Monday, September 19, 2011 at the A.O. Fox Hospital. Born August 30, 1942 in Oneonta, he was the son of the late Joseph DeVito and Jennie (Pisanelli) Guerriero.

Joseph married Andrea (Sampson). He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a chef at Diana’s Restaurant and then worked at Amphenol until he retired. He was a member of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers.

Joseph was an avid artist and donated his time for several years painting scenery for the Melody Makers. He enjoyed doing NY Times Crossword puzzles, gardening, family barbeques and he coached little league. He collected antique breweriana and ephemera. He also collected and enjoyed listening to his favorite music on his 45 records and 8 track tapes. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his children and grand daughter.

He is survived by his wife, Andrea; his children, Jessica (Karl) Sorensen of St.Johnsville and Andrew Guerriero of Zanesville, OH; his grand daughter, Eliza Sorensen; his sisters, Dolly Sherwood of Charlotte, NC, Lorie NaKohon of Clovis, CA, Elaine (David) Terpenning of Guntersville, AL, Judith DeVita of Panama City, FL and Carole (Fred) Kohland of New Berlin; a brother in law, Joseph McAvoy of Albany; sisters in law, Carol Lee (Ted) Wheeler of Morris, Susan Sampson of Oneonta, and Sandra Sampson of Queen Creek, AZ and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Betty McAvoy and brothers in law, Don Sherwood and Gary Sampson.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta. A memorial service will be held immediately following at 2:00 PM with Reverend Gary Bonebrake, Pastor of the Main Street Baptist Church officiating.
