John Joseph Spath Jr.

He was born April 22, 1946 in Nyack, NY the son of the late papa John Joseph Spath, Sr. and Dorothy Reilly Spath.

On October 12, 1974, John married Anna Elliott in Suffern, NY. Together they share 37 wonderful years of marriage.

John worked as an aide at the Hudson Valley DDSO for many years until his retirement.

He was an avid Yankees fan and also a Beatles fan.

John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will forever be loved and missed.

John is survived by his wife, Anna Spath of Delhi; four children, John Joseph Spath,III of Oneonta, Ryan C. Spath and Lynne Fancher of Otego, James Richard Spath of Delhi and Dorothy Spath of Texas; three grandchildren, Mattia and Imani Bell and Justin and Lisa Fancher; two great grandchildren, Kassidy and Savannah Fancher; god children, Tweety and Missy; three sisters, Frances Rood, Jacqueline Carella and Theresa Spath; two brothers, Robert Spath and David K. Spath; two aunts, Barbara Murphy and Lisa Murphy; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a daughter, Rebecca Spath; siblings, Philip Spath, Richard Spath, Catherine Spath and Catherine Lopez; Grandma Gert Murphy; and uncle, Zeb Murphy.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2012 in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. There will be a prayer service at 5:00 PM with Reverend Ben Ampong officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in John’s name may be made to the National Association for Down Syndrome, P.O. Box 206, Wilmette, IL 60091
