Bill was born on July 30, 1936 in Hancock, Iowa to the late Juanita Arnold Gillespie and Gordon Gillespie. He graduated from Oakland, Iowa High School in 1954. Bill married Doris Butts on December 9, 1956, and was blessed with three children, Shelley, Shane, and Sherry.
He was a 63 year member of Steamfitters' Local #464 in Omaha and retired in January 1997, and a member of the Salem United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters Connie and Sandra, brother, Daris, daughter Sherry English, daughter in law, Joni Gillespie, stepmother, Ethel Gillespie, and sister in law, Dee Duer.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Doris Gillespie, of Council Bluffs, daughter, Shelley (Dave) Richanbach of Hillsborough, CA, Son, Shane of Omaha, sisters, Sharon Thompson, Omaha and Micaela McLean of Kingston, WA, 5 grandchildren, Will Richanbach, Rachel (Marc) Cyr, David (Emma) Richanbach, Angela (Chris) Molini, and Jennifer (Micah) Wagner, and 3 great grandchildren. Son in law, Dave English. Nieces, nephews and cousins.
