Robert Morris True Sr.

Robert Morris True Sr. was born on December 29, 1935 to Warren Cyrus True and Ruth Backus of Avoca, Iowa. He had twin sisters that died at birth (1925) and two brothers, Jack (1927) and Charlie (1930).

Bob graduated from Avoca High School in 1953. He was in the army from 1954-1957. He was a paratrooper in 188th Airborne Regiment and in the 82nd Airborne. He received a Parachute Badge, Expert Rifle M-1, and a National Defense Service medal.

Bob met Janice Jane Lang and married her on October 24, 1958. They were blessed with three children; Debra Kay, David Warren, and Robert Morris Jr., 10 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Bob was a truck driver for many years, retiring from the Teamsters at age 55. He and Jan loved to travel and vacation with their family in their RV which led them to several Nebraska Cornhusker football games, various lakes, camping sites, and other destinations. Bob and Jan made homes in Arkansas and Beaver Lake, before settling back into their home in Bellevue where they raised their family.

Robert Morris True Sr. passed away on March 22, 2024 at the age of 88.

He is preceded in death by his wife, siblings, and parents.

He is survived by his children, Debra (Richard) Hicks, Dave (Rose) True, and Rob (Billie) True; grandchildren, Kurt Petersen, Hillary (Casey) Roberts, Kelsey (James) Wright, Wes (Ashley) True, Chris Dougherty, Brittnie (West) Wilson, Emile True, Olivia True, Avery True, and Will True; great grandchildren, Flynn, Russell, Chloe, Jackson, Sam, Zach, Beau, and Meritt.

A visitation for Robert will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home.
