Dick was born to Geraldine (Gotsch) Moore and Chester (Joe) Moore Feb. 28, 1926. He attended Lidderdale public school. On March 23, 1943 he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was assigned as a gunner on the destroyer, USS Brown, serving in the South Asiatic-Pacific Theaterduring WWII. In 1947, he enlisted in the army as a MP stationed at Fort Sheridan IL. He married Colleen Grace Schleisman Sept 3, 1949. To this union was born four children: Marc (Sonia) Moore, Armstrong IA., Paula (Dr. Bill) Barkman, Leawood, KS., Jon Moore, Omaha, NE., and Myron (Sherry) Moore, Omaha, NE. Dick received his high school diploma from Fort Dodge Community College. He worked for the ASCS USDA in Carroll, IA. for 14 years. In 1967 he took a position as a USDA Warehouse Examiner in Sioux City, IA. He transferred to Kansas City, MO. as a Field Supervisor, then to Omaha NE. in 1974. He retired in 1990. Dick enjoyed annual fishing trips to Canada with his family and friends. He enjoyed his 13 grandchildren and 7 “great’s” with activities, projects, and adventures.
Dick is survived by his wife, Colleen, of 67 years marriage. Four children, 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, sister, Donna Schleisman, Keokuk IA., brother, Daryl (Jim) Moore, Lidderdale IA. and sister-in-law, Ardietta (Deedee) Moore, MN., brother-in-laws Duane (Laurina) Schleisman, Omaha, NE., John (Joanne) Schleisman, Tucson, AZ.
Dick is preceded by his parents, brother, Vernon, sister, Jean Neppel, brothers-in-law, Merle Schleisman, Ralph Neppel, Daryl Schleisman, and Roland (Whitey) Schleisman.
VISITATION will be at St Wenceslaus Catholic Church, located at 15353 Pacific Street,Omaha, NE., Friday morning at 10:00am. A MEMORIAL MASS will follow at noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St Wenceslaus Catholic Church or charity of your choice.
