She wed Gary Randall — with whom she raised two sons — on August 19, 1972, and they remained faithfully married until her last day on Earth.
She loved to tell and hear jokes, solve puzzles and cheer on the Cornhuskers. Through the years, Phyllis worked at offices, schools and even the Ak-Sar-Ben race track, but she was always, first and foremost, a mother.
Leading by example, she taught her sons to be thoughtful, compassionate and fair. Without ever raising either her hand or her voice, she was able to strike fear into the hearts of misbehaving boys with a simple “I’m so disappointed.” And she molded them both into men who now strive every day as parents to live up to her impossible standard.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John and Mark. She is survived by her husband (Gary), her two sons and their wives (Jeffrey and Cristina, Nicholas and Holly) and five granddaughters, as well as brothers Ronald (Sam) and Michael; sisters Frances, Vicki, Kathleen and Denise; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 30 from 5-7pm with a Vigil Service at 7pm at Crosby Colonial Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, May 31, at Mary Our Queen Church, 3405 S 118th St, Omaha, NE 68144.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
