I worked at Mid City Bank for many, many years. I moved to a new house recently and hung pictures of Colorado in my dining room which reminder me of Jim. He will always be remembered for his generous contributions to many organizations.

I worked for Jim Fitl at the Mid City Bank at the main location for 6 years.  He was the most generous man and employer I have ever had even to this day.  With Christmas coming I was talking with my coworkers about the abundance of food at work. I was reminiscing about holidays at Mid City Bank. Jim was always gifted poinsettia plants and Mr Fitl HATED poinsettias which was lucky for us. We girls always got to take the beautiful plants home.  I will remember him always as the best boss I've ever had.

To the family of Jim Fitl, I worked at Mid City Bank for 3 years and really loved Jim. He was a one of a kind. I remember when he called me after he received my resume and when he first met me and looked at my qualifications for me to work at his bank.  He asked me if I was the greatest thing since sliced bread or what? My answer was yes. He must have really like my answer and confidence because he hired me on the spot. He truly was a very interesting person and was so generous to all those he knew. He loved having the kids come down in their costumes to the main bank and give them treats and things. And we cannot forget how many things he had in his office that covered the walls and his desk, especially when it came to the Huskers. I just saw the memoriam in the newspaper this morning 11/3/15 and wanted to all to know that I am praying for you all and hope that Jim will always live in your hearts. Since I left the bank in 2002 I have always thought about him wondering how he was and now I know. I was so sad to see that he had passed but he is in a much better place now. May God bless you all.

Mr. Fitl is how I always addressed you.. You gave a lot of young student athletes advise and encouraged us to do things the honest and right way... You supported us in so many ways. I will alwAys remember the mid city bank red helmet shaped clock that you gave out and the roll of toilet paper with one dollar bills rolled up in it.... Thank you for everything.... I always wanted to make you proud.

To Uncle... today I say good bye, but you will never be forgotten in my heart.  Always there with your generosity, love and support for me and my family.  From my younger days in which I remember you buying me the most beautiful party dress. I remember wearing it for Christmas, to the stories you shared just recently with your grand laugh about my rides in your convertible.  You said that my eyes were “as big as saucers” with disbelief about how the top went up and down.... you told me it was magic!!!   Then there were those weekend football games with all the kids in the neighborhood.  Our backyard was the “cool” place to be every weekend.  I am so grateful for the time we had.  I'm going to miss our Sunday Louis M's, but I am so grateful we got there one last time to celebrate your birthday!  I am so grateful for our ice cream party just a few months back where my Mom got to be there too!  I am so grateful I got to say good bye just a few weeks back and tell you that I loved you.  You have made an impact not only on my life but my children's lives as well.  Thank you.

Jim I will miss your awesome laugh and your great stories.

Remembering a beloved family member who left me many wonderful memories that go back probably around 50 years.  Moments, events, seasons, occasions, countless ones throughout the years that my Uncle Jim orchestrated or was a part of that bring a smile or gratitude or laughter whenever they come to mind.  So many things said and done that meant so much and will never be forgotten.  He could be a prankster.  He certainly made his presence known.  He was admired and respected by so many.  He loved his family with all of his heart.  He was a great friend.  His job at the bank was his passion for the entire 43 years.  Behind the scenes, Jim Fitl was responsible for countless gestures of generosity and giving.  He was an advocate for education and he was dedicated to helping people,  giving them a chance or an opportunity that would have a positive impact on their life.  No doubt and maybe not widely known, my Uncle Jim made a difference in countless lives.  He really was a "cool" and fun uncle, a guy with an amazing big heart and a very caring, generous spirit.  Forever in our hearts and grateful for his presence in our lives.

Not even sure where I should start as we have had so many wonderful memories with many laughs over the years! We will greatly miss our Jim. He was a one of a kind, special person that could light up a room wherever he went and it was at lightning speed might I add. He always had a contagious warm hearted smile. Patty, Lynn, Jimmy and families, our thoughts and prayers are going out to you at this difficult time but know you will have a special angel that will always watch over you. Jim, I wanted to let you know how much you will be missed by many people throughout the community. I Know  I lost someone very special to me because you always cared about me getting my Loan License. It was really a compliment to me when you told Lynn and Patty that I would be better than you in Banking. You were a very hard worker and helped many people out and I hope to live up to what you said because you had taught me a lot about life and I am proud to always tell anyone about you. I promise to do what you asked of me and I will help Lynn through this tough time. Lynn and the Boys mean the world to me and I will try to be as good of a father as you were to all of us! Today I wanted one seat left empty in your honor at the Husker game, also I know this game on 11/1/2014, when they honored Veterans was one of your favorites since you served as well. I will miss you and the talks we had over the years. Thank you for all that you have done, we Love you and Now you don't have to suffer. I can't believe you and my Dad passed away the same week.

Jim was a person who you never thought would leave this earth. He was so full of life and enjoyed it fully. He was tenacious, funny , stubborn, hard working, and could tell a great story.  We will miss him, but will never forget him. Our hearts go out to the entire family and we pray you find peace. May God be with you.

Pat and family, I am so sorry for your loss. You and Jim were our first neighbors when we moved from No.Platte to Omaha in 1975. It is an honor to be life long friends and part of your church family for all these years. We will miss Jim and his sense of humor. Love to you, Pat, Lynn, Jimmy and families. To Pat and family,  Jim will certainly be missed, not only for his quick wit but mostly for his love of family, church and friends.  His generosity was matched by none other.  He had quite an impact without expecting a return.  I know Jim had a positive impact on my son as well and for that I am eternally grateful.  Home with his heavenly Father, he will be missed here on earth.  Know God has the best of "bankers" at his side now.  My love and condolences to Pat and the rest of the family.
