Eugene Joseph Lighthart

Gene is survived by his wife of 68 years Margaret (Peg), sister Deanne (Tom) George, children Gail (Terry) Paulsen, Dave (Jann) Lighthart, Pat (Teri) Lighthart, Mike (Kathleen) Lighthart, Mona (Rich) Hauver, Karen Lighthart and Rob (Shannon) Lighthart, 23 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents William & Rosella (Tobin) Lighthart, brother Lloyd Lighthart, granddaughter Emily Lighthart-Allen and great granddaughter Deidre Grant.

Gene was a loving husband, father & grandfather with a great sense of humor. He was an avid golfer, but also enjoyed fishing & bowling. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, counted collections and a lector for church earlier in life and especially loved calling bingo! Gene was an Army veteran who served honorably in the Korean War. He will truly be missed, but we take solace knowing he is now in the arms of his savior.

A memorial mass for Eugene will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 11802 Pacific St, Omaha, Nebraska 68154. Following the memorial mass will be a graveside service at 1:30 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Robert Bellarmine Church or Alzheimer's Association of Omaha.
