Donald Gould was born to Clarence and Martha Gould in Valley, Nebraska on May 11, 1924. Don had three siblings, Helen, Dan, and Phil, all who preceded him in death. Don attended Iowa State University where he met ‘his Annie’. Anne and Don dated in college, only interrupted by a long separation during WWII while Don served in the Navy on the LMS 345.
At the conclusion of the War, Don and Anne were married on September 1, 1946 at Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church. Their 71 years of marriage were filled with love and laughter.
Don was a professional structural engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad, designing, inspecting, and overseeing the construction and maintenance of the system’s bridges. Don retired after 35 years and was able to enjoy the next 35 years pursuing his hobbies.
Don and Anne enjoyed traveling in the states, Caribbean, and Europe, fishing and boating at their Table Rock lake summer home, and sharing their time and love with their daughters, Carol and Nancy, their six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Don was a 65-year member of John J. Mercer Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite, in addition to a long time member of Presbyterian Church of the Cross.
Don lived the last few weeks of his life in the loving care of Country House Memory Care and St. Croix Hospice.
Don’s quiet quick wit, unconditional love for his family, and perpetual positive outlook on life has touched every one blessed to have known him.
