Bruce Alan Thompsen was born to Andrew Ivan and Fae Thompsen on September 16th, 1936 in Omaha, NE. Bruce grew up in the Hanscom Park area, attending Park School and Tech High School. He purchased his first house at the age of 19, and married Sharon Harsch on October 14th, 1955. They were married for 67 years. He was in the Naval reserves for four years, leaving with an honorable discharge in 1961. He went on to work for the Continental Can Company, achieving a management position and transferring to the branch in Chicago. He returned to Omaha with the family in 1968, and worked for a period of time at the Triangle Steel Company. Over the years Bruce invested in many properties - spending the majority of his career buying, fixing, selling, and renting homes and apartments as part of his business: Thompsen Rental and Construction. In his free time he loved working on stock cars, and watching them race - especially as his sons grew older and took the driver's seat. He developed a passion for fast cars, and over the years collected many different Corvettes and Mustangs that he enjoyed driving in local parades with his grandchildren. At one point he even restored a Model A. Bruce's favorite activities included watching westerns and Wheel of Fortune, and taking out his grandchildren and great-grandchildren for meals and ice cream. He loved his family deeply, and leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, and love. He is survived by his wife Sharon, daughter Linda (Dan) Henry, sons Bruce Michael (Oonagh) and Andrew Alan, as well as 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and 3 great great grandsons, as well as brothers and sisters in-laws along with many nephews and nieces.
