Barbara Jean (Morrison) Moore

Barbara Jean Moore was born January 4, 1935, in Hope, Arkansas to the union of Rev. Freddie Morrison Sr. and Josephine Maxwell Morrison. She was a proud graduate of the 1954 Yerger High School class. Barbara went on to further her education by obtaining an Associate Degree in Business Administration at Metropolitan Community College.

Barbara’s work journey included Douglas County Health and Human Services, Franklin Community Credit Union and Peter Kiewit Construction. Additionally, she was a longtime personal assistant to Walter and Suzanne Scott until she retired.

At the direction of her father, she accepted Christ at an early age and decided that she would serve him until he called her to her everlasting home.

Barbara united with Zion Baptist Church on May 6, 1984. Mother Moore as she was affectionately called by many served in various ministries throughout church with a beautiful smile. She served as Co-Chairperson of the Esther Mission Circle, as a faithful Usher, an energetic member of the Golden Agers, a dedicated member of the Sanctuary Choir and a dedicated Deaconess. She served until her health no longer allowed her to stay in Nebraska. She was always willing to assist the church in any capacity with a compassionate spirit and a wide smile on her face.

She journeyed to Marysville, Washington, due to health issues where she enjoyed the remainder of her life to the best of her ability. On Sunday, September 16, 2018, Barbara answered the call from our Heavenly Father who said, ‘Come home, my good and faithful servant. Come home and rest.’

She was preceded in death by 2 sons Kenneth W. Moore and Gregory L. Moore and 1 grandson, Richard G. Harrison.

Barbara leaves to carry on her legacy of faith and family, Sister: Dorothy Gamble; children: Teri L. Woods, Debra L. Shaw, Jenice A. Harrison, Alva L. Cooper, George B. Cooper, and Edward D. Moore; grandchildren: DeVon Cullins, Damien Comer (Jessica), Vernon Elmore, Artie D. Shaw (LaTia), Brandon Comer (Lauren), Antwan Minton, Arriance Shaw, Dante Harris, Sherise Gassery (Harrece), Arlicia Shaw, Anthony Ross, Kenny Elmore, Britanny Elmore, Tiffani J. Orr (Anthony), and Kirsten Cooper (Ayanno), special friend Thelma Williams, a host of great grandchildren, relatives and friends
