Patricia Ann Jones

Patricia Ann Jones said goodbye for the last time on August 24, 2024, at the young age of 72. She departed this earth after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Pat was born on December 30, 1951, in Akron, Ohio to the late Clarence Clyde Murray and Alice Virginia Moore. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard E. Murray and her beloved grandson, Cutter Crass.

Pat grew up with her parents and three brothers, David, Rick, and Jimmy, in Ohio, before settling in Memphis, Tennessee. Whether she was tending to a wound on one of her little brothers, trying to stop a wound from happening, rescuing one from a tree, or joining them at the skating rink, she was always there to lead the pack. The stories are endless! She graduated from Kingsbury High School in 1969, where she had many friends, some of whom she still calls friends today.

Pat was a strong, independent woman, paving the way for future generations. She began working in high school as a window designer at Shainberg’s Department Store. From there, she never stopped working. Sometimes two or three jobs at a time making sure to take care of her little family of two. She moved on to the world of advertising, beginning her career at Cochran & Sanford Advertising Agency. She spent many years with the agency assisting in marketing campaigns on all levels. She then joined Chandler Ehrlich & Company furthering her career and was part of several awards the advertising agency received over the years. She was not quite ready to retire when Chandler Ehrlich left the scene. She took a position with BFC Print and was happy doing press checks right up until the time retirement was calling her name in 2016! Retirement was her true love. She enjoyed every moment of her life and lived it the way she wanted – by not having a care in the world as to what day of the week it was. She was always up for the next adventure or baseball game, you just had to remind her of the day because her Tuesdays were just the same as Saturdays.

Lovingly called Patty by her brothers, friends and often times by her son-in-law Billy. Her favorite name of all was Mommom, a name affectionately given by her granddaughter, Codi Savannah. When Codi was a little girl, she was Mommom’s side kick. There was always an adventure to go on or a boat to ride on back in those days. Games were played, cupcakes were baked, dress up was fun, beach trips were the best and cruises too! The two of them were the best of friends then and now.

Mommom took immense pride in her grandson, Cutter. They shared their love for baseball. She spent her weekends at the ball fields. She was his official scorekeeper. You could always find Mommom in the stands, cheering the loudest.

Beyond her two grandchildren, she had two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Jack. She was the true definition of love and support in a grandmother. If you saw the boys with Mommom, chances are, they were dirty from head to toe, eating m&m’s and drinking sweet tea. Lucas and Jack would ask every day, ‘Is Mommom home? Can we go see Mommom?’. Whether they were taking a nap in her lap, playing in the sand pit at her house or getting out every single toy she had at her house, they knew they were loved by their Mommom.

Pat leaves behind her daughter, Tiffany Linehan and her husband, Billy, her granddaughter, Codi Wells and her husband, Kolby along with her two precious great-grandsons, Lucas and Jack. Pat also leaves behind a host of blended grandchildren, Wil Linehan, Kelsey Gilbert and her husband, Eric and children John Eric, Caroline and Bayliss.

She leaves to cherish her memory, brothers – James B. Murray and David Murray along with his wife Dr. Cathy Murray and a host of nieces and nephews who were loved dearly.

Pat was strong in her faith and now rests in the arms of Jesus. There will be a private graveside service for the family. A celebration of life gathering will take place on Saturday, September 7th at 11:00 am at 7909 Campbellwood Cove, Olive Branch, Mississippi. All are welcome to join the family and share memories, pictures, and stories of how Pat – Patricia, Patty, Mommom – enhanced their lives.
