Jessie ”Sugar Doll” Laverne Childers, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 24, 2021 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. Sugar Doll was born on September 10, 1930 to the Late William Jesse and Margaret Louella Childers in Memphis, TN. She loved sewing cards, making necklaces, and drinking Coca-Cola and eating cheese puffs. Sugar Doll was a longtime resident of RHA Group Home in Jackson, TN, where she was loved immensely. She had the Childers sense of humor and will be greatly missed by her family. Every Sunday, she would say, “I go home to mama”, and now she is with her mama. Sugar Doll was preceded in death by her parents, William Jesse and Margaret Louella Childers; four siblings: Wilton Leon Childers, Nadine Carrico, Ruie Guyton Childers, and William Gordon. She leaves behind two nieces, Evelyn Carrico, Leah Childers Roth, and one nephew, Maury Carrico. Sugar Doll also leaves behind her beloved caregivers: Glynnis, Dneka, Felicia, Jeanette and Dorothy. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Bethlehem Cemetery in Memphis, TN.
