Cpl. George Hubert Mason, from Byhalia, MS, served our country gallantly in the Korean War. Declared missing in action on February 14, 1951, he is now making his final return home to the land he loved. Born on June 8, 1931, in the Watson Crossroads Community to the late Hubert M. and Ruth Guess Mason, George entered the U. S. Army on July 25, 1949. George was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Allen Mason. Corporal Mason is survived by his brother, Albert Mason (Jeanne) of Evansville, IN, niece and nephews; Phyllis Freeman of Olive Branch, MS, Bill Mason of Byhalia, MS, Mark Morrow of Cincinnati, OH, Tim Morrow of Byhalia, MS and TSgt. (Ret) Scott Morrow of Wichita Falls, TX. The family will gather to receive friends on Monday, October 19, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., and funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. Interment will follow at Emory Independent Methodist Church Cemetery in Byhalia, with full Military Honors.
